What’s so special about SMART FOR THE HEART?
I want to let everyone know why Smart for the Heart is not only special but different from other heart risk assessment and on-line wellness programs. So here goes.
In the past few days, there have been several very long articles in the newspapers about corporate wellness programs. The premise being that many employees find them intrusive and offensive. Many of these programs require personal information that many employees would prefer their employer not know. Many of them require mandatory information; again interference in the employee’s personal life.
I agree one hundred percent with this criticism; that is why my organization, Sister to Sister, has a wonderful on-line wellness program, which is completely private and is based on self-motivation. Also, from a behavioral standpoint, being forced to comply is not the same as wanting to change on one’s own.
Yes, I believe in incentives, good communication and a welcoming atmosphere, but in order for programs to be successful in the long run, the desire to make changes for a healthier life must come from the person who decides that on their own.
Welcome to SMART FOR THE HEART.
