Tonight is Game 7 for the Caps!!!
Wow, all the memories of those incredibly close, tense, scary, moments! After a while you try not to think about what might or might not happen. You have to do a mind job on yourself. So not only are you and everyone else nervous wrecks, then you come into the building and the noise starts. The fans are going crazy!
And you want so much to win, of course, and please the fans. How do you stop your heart from pounding so loudly that you think everyone around you can hear it?
Then, of course, you try to settle down and watch the game. And unbelievably, the game starts. You watch the puck go up and down, in and out, the noise never stops, you eye the scoreboard…you are winning, you are losing. You pray, but you really don’t want to do that….it is up to the players, not God. But if he could help a little bit??!
And, phew, the game is over. Suddenly. Which is so often the way in hockey. Fast game, fast ending. And, my God, we won! We won! You are screaming and jumping up and down like everyone in the building. Kissing and hugging, and squeezing and punching!
Wait, I can’t believe it! Wait, I can believe it!
Then on the ride home, replaying the game and thinking about all the games that led up to this one. As my husband, Abe, used to say, “What a crazy business this is!!!!!!!!!!”
And he loved every minute!
